WebP to JPG Converter

WebP is a modern image format created by Google to make web pages load faster. It compresses photos noticeably smaller than JPG at the same quality and supports transparency like PNG, which is why more and more websites serve their images as WebP. The catch: when you right-click and save one of those images, you end up with a .webp file that many programs still don't accept.

Older photo editors, some office software, certain print shops and a few upload forms will reject a WebP file or fail to open it. Converting to JPG gives you the universally compatible format that works everywhere, so the image you saved from a website becomes usable in any app.

Your browser already knows how to display WebP, so the tool decodes the image onto a canvas and re-encodes it as a standard JPG, entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded. The result is an ordinary JPG you can open, edit and share anywhere.

WebP can store transparency, but JPG cannot, so any transparent areas are flattened onto a white background during conversion. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead.

If the image stays on the web — your own website, a blog, an app — WebP is the better choice because it's smaller and loads faster. Convert to JPG when you need the file in a program or workflow that doesn't understand WebP, such as older desktop software or a form that only lists JPG and PNG.

For photographs, converting WebP to JPG is essentially lossless to the eye at high quality. For graphics with sharp edges or text, PNG may preserve them more cleanly than JPG.
